My journey into therapy has taken an unusual path, beginning with a career in investigative research. Early on, my work focused on detailed analysis, uncovering insights to help others make informed decisions. At one point, I envisioned pursuing academia or politics to create change on a broader scale, yet over time, I became more drawn to the immediate, personal nature of individual experience.
I was initially doubtful about therapy as a meaningful path to change. I had concerns about approaches that didn’t fully address the complexities of human struggles, especially the tension between helplessness and personal agency. Over time, however, I came to understand that resistance to change is often rooted in a lack of acceptance not only of difficult circumstances and the uncertainty we all live with, but also of the darker parts of ourselves we’d rather avoid. Therapy offers a grounded and honest way to confront these challenges, helping us recognize how we sometimes work against ourselves and how, even in the face of ambivalence, we can begin to make meaningful shifts in our lives.
Today, I help clients navigate their own journeys, offering a space for reflection and growth. My work is about supporting individuals as they confront life’s inevitable challenges, knowing that transformation comes through deep, personal engagement with those experiences. I continue to be deeply impacted by this process myself, as therapy not only shapes my clients but also transforms me, enriching my own understanding of the human experience.
